On World Cancer Day Lauren Mahon, BBC co-host of podcast You, Me and the Big C, launched a new range of fundraising T-shirts.
In 2016, the now 32-year-old was diagnosed with a cancerous lump in her right breast and she began documenting her journey under the hashtag #girlvscancer on both her blog and Instagram.
GirlvsCancer went on to launch three ranges of T-shirts dedicated to breast cancer patients and survivors.
The new T-shirts are each emblazoned with a positive affirmation and the “Keep Your Cool” version will see 25 per cent of its sales awarded to PAXMAN Scalp Cooling in memory of her podcast co-host Rachael Bland, who sadly died in September 2018 from breast cancer.
“This special edition style will be raising funds for Rach’s cause of choice. The Pioneering gang at @ScalpCooling,” Mahon writes on Instagram. “Paxman’s Cold Cap System is major. It saved Rach’s mane during months of chemo. It saved 100,000 others hair too.”
Rachael asked for PAXMAN to be the recipient of donations made at her funeral, as scalp cooling had such an impact to her life through her cancer diagnosis. This along with funds from the t-shirt sales will go towards ongoing collaborative research with the University of Huddersfield.
The ‘Keep Your Cool’ T-shirt sold out in less than 48 hours but will be available again soon! https://girlvscancer.co.uk/shop/
